Dawn Brancheau's death was caused by a killer whale at the SeaWorld event on 24 February 2010.
She was performing with the orcas that she was training for years. The show was titled Dine With Shamu and the whale was named Tilikum.
Dawn did acts with the whale and fed him throughout the performance. At last, while she was rubbing Tilikum's head, it attacked her and drowned her.
The employees at SeaWorld tried to distract the whale by throwing nets and food. Eventually, Tilikum was moved to the medical pool where he released Brancheau's body.

She was born Dawn Therese LoVerde on 16 April 1969 to a family of eight. She was raised alongside her 5 siblings in Cedar Lake, Indiana.
